Worthington Swim Club

Honoring Judith A. Girardi

Dear Worthington Swim Club members,

It is with great sorrow that we inform you of Judith Girardi's passing.  Judith passed away the evening of Thursday, September 2nd at her home.

As you know, Judith worked hard for this team and was admired by all. Words cannot express our heartfelt grief as we mourn her death.  We keep her family, especially Madison and Nick and Bruce Girardi in our prayers and thoughts.

A very sad day for all of us.  We are all so saddened by the news about Judith.  Here is the bio we had on her...

Judith brought 25 years of experience in fitness instruction to our club, both in the water and out.  She has been a Certified USA Coach at Worthington for 6 years including Age Group 9-10 in ’98 & ‘99 and now in 2003.  She was the 8&U Coach from ‘98-‘02 and the Aqua Tots Coach from ’97-’02.  Other experience at Worthington includes:  Preschool Lesson Director ’99-’01, Swim Lesson Director ’99-’01, Ass’t. Swim Lesson Director ’97-’99, JR’S Coach for The Worthington Wave Swim Team ’98 &’99 (In ’99 the JR’S won their Division at Championships).  She is a Water Safety Instructor Trainer, Lifeguard, First Aid and CPR Instructor Trainer, and Safety Training For Swim Coaches Instructor.  She has been Meet Director and Meet Manager for Worthington home meets.  Judith was also the Head Coach of the 150 member Wedgewood Country Club Swim Team – ages 6-18, including many ‘AA’ and Zone swimmers.  She took this team from 7th place to 2nd in ’02 and then to 1st Place at the 2003 CCSL Championships with 23 Club records broken and multiple League records.  She also Heads their Swim Lesson Program.  Judith’s son Nick (13) has been on our team for 7 years and has ‘AA’ times and her daughter Madison (9) ranked 3rd through 9th in the State, in all events, as an 8 year old.  Doing what others may think is impossible drives her and her swimmers!

It will be her smile and CAN DO spirit that we will all miss the most!  We can honor her the best by continuing those attributes!

Sadly,

Jean Davis
Worthington Swim Club Booster President

P.S. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Judith's memory to The Judith Girardi Memorial Fund, c/o Sky Bank, 6880 North High Street, Worthington, 43085.
   Finally, Rev Sipple, of
the Worthington United Methodist Church, did suggest for those wanting to help in another way; to send the family gift certificates for dinner.  He said this has has worked well in the past and could be a big help to Bruce in the weeks ahead.

The Worthington Swim Club will also honor Coach Judith by naming the summer meet that we host in her fond memory.

And check out a GREAT way to Honor Judith at http://www.lapsforlifejag.com/index.html
